I WAS infuriated to read (“Lane is a whole lot of mess for sea scouts”, Daily Echo, March 21), that Ray Farnham, a Poole sea scout leader, has been told by council jobsworths that he will be prosecuted for fly tipping if he attempts to fill dangerous potholes in a lane that is regularly used by sea scouts and others.
This is just another example of bureaucracy gone mad.
It only reinforces the notion that a complete lack of common sense is now the major qualification for those seeking employment with councils.
Mr Farnham just wants to make the lane safe for his young charges – the council should be thanking him, not threatening to prosecute him for offering to carry out repairs that should be done by the council itself.
The inmates are most definitely in charge of the asylum.
