IT is great news that finally the Imax eyesore (‘Bulldozers to flatten Imax in the autumn’, Daily Echo March 31) is to be demolished.
In announcing this demolition Cllr Beesley stated that the council were “responding to public demand by demolishing the building now”.
With respect, it is about time if not beyond time that the council as a whole body started to listen and act upon what the public have to say on all matters that involve the town.
Far too often some of the crackpot ideas and plans (e.g. the Boscombe surf reef) that have come about from the council leave people wondering about where the joined up thinking emanates from.
Finally I must point out that with the Imax building being demolished as a ‘folly’ and a ‘carbuncle’, I cannot but think that yet another folly will soon take its place in the near vicinity.
