I READ that the Imax is to be pulled down in the autumn of this year (Daily Echo, March 31).
At least it will not be an unused building standing empty.
With all the discussion of Bournemouth needing wet weather facilities, surely an open air concert area would be inadequate.
Our beaches bring the visitors and locals, but the entertainment by the pier should surely be for summer and winter weather.
This would add to encouraging people here all year round. It does not have to be very high and could incorporate a restaurant.
The public would then have somewhere to go if, as often happens, parts of the year do not turn out to be beach weather.
Can you imagine BSO wanting to perform with winds howling or rain coming down on them?
The idea of an open air facility is lovely, but not for our weather conditions.
The town needs all-year-round tourists to keep hotels and other businesses thriving and so produce more jobs in the area.
Thus the hotels would be able to offer more competitive rates than other towns if they were busy 12 months instead of the short summer season.
