I COULDN’T agree more with the letter regarding the beach hut proposals (‘Beach hut decision seems to be unfair’, letters March 27). It is unfair. I have had a beach hut for a number of years and use it on a regular basis.
We have decorated and furnished the inside and get frustrated with the minimum amount of maintenance that the Borough of Poole carry out to the outside of the hut (for which they are responsible).
The price of the licence has gone up 30 per cent in the last two years and will increase again by 15 per cent next year.
So why are we being threatened with losing our huts or reducing the tenancy when we live in Poole and pay full council tax and pay such a high annual licence?
And why are huts that are being vacated by long-term tenants now being used for short term hire?
If the waiting list is to be reduced this should not be happening.
Also, the people coming to the top of the list should be accepting what they are offered – if not, they should come off the list and give someone else a chance.
There is plenty of room along the promenade past the newly built huts at Branksome Chine for dozens more huts to be built.
Why not build more new huts and leave us existing tenants alone?
