AIN’T it quiet? A couple of weeks back I would be walking the dog around the pavements of town and the traffic would be bustling past.

Brakes screeching, tyres squealing, horns honking and engines roaring.

Now, almost without exception, vehicles purr past with engines turning at near tick over as the drivers try for every yard they can get out of every drop of fuel.

Every vanished cloud of exhaust fumes is surely a silver lining to our current fuel supply problems.
