IT’S good to see a time set for demolition of the Imax at last, and Bournemouth Council have commendably delayed the start to avoid the tourist season for the work.
But are the tourism chiefs missing a golden opportunity here?
As the building has become so infamous, and is claimed to have turned away so many tourists, couldn’t its demolition be turned around and become a great tourist attraction and performed in season for all to come and enjoy?
There could be a national promotion with extended viewing areas set up, and leaflet hand-outs explaining the operations.
The purpose would be bringing back lost visitors, and of course there would be the grand draw for a winner to push that demolition plunger.
A massive build up to the moment when a colossal charge of dynamite collapses the Imax to a huge but innocuous stack of rubble.
