I FREQUENTLY read about problems with travellers when they camp illegally on council land or other property.

Can any MP, council official or police officer please explain why, rather than obtain and serve them with eviction notices, travellers cannot be moved to the nearest caravan/camping site?

There are many in the area that they can book into, pay their charges and stay or move from one to another as they wish.

I am sure the site owners would not object, providing they behave in the same way as ordinary caravan tourists would.

What is the reason why travellers are treated differently from other members of the public who choose to travel the country with a caravan?

Furthermore, how do the authorities decide who is a traveller and who is not?
