WE HAVE witnessed over the last few years, the continuing abortive missions of Bournemouth Council failures – the Imax (and of course more money on the removal of this), the reef, and the subsequent spending of millions of pounds of the ratepayers’ money, with absolutely nothing to show for it.
We now see that, in a fit of picque, the people of Kinson and its surrounds are being denied a brand new shopping complex, to replace what must be the most run-down set of shops in Bournemouth.
For what? The saving of £200,700? Tesco has not been given planning permission as it would appear that this sum of money is to help to pay for road improvements in this area.
This is a very small sum of money, after having seen millions spent and wasted!
The council have ignored the prosperity this could bring: jobs for the local community, to include the building and staff in running the new store; a modern store; and a smarting up of an area.
Coun Ron Whittaker states “it would be a real buzz if we got a Morrisons”.
May I jog his memory and say we did have a Morrisons just up the road, who sold out and moved out of Bournemouth.
Get real council and, for once in your life do something for the people of Kinson.
