I AM sure thousands of residents are amazed by the latest ‘blunders’ by our Bournemouth council ie demolishing the Imax.
In recent years we have had: 1. Demolishing the Winter Gardens; 2. Enlarging the Windsor Hall and removing the swimming pool; 3. Building the Boscombe Pier reef for £3.3million (the Purbeck stones in front of the Castle Lane War Memorial Homes would probably been better on the Western side at a fraction of the cost); 4. The proposed new gates at Kings Park; 5. The proposed play area on the Queens Park golf course car park (It should be on the unused footpath) 6. Demolishing the Kinson library and naming the new one The Hub.
Surely the obvious answer for the Imax is to install a swimming pool on the ground floor.
Have an ice rink on the floor above it and lower the existing roof and have a curved sun roof.
This should be over a restaurant and bar.
Using the Imax in bad summer and winter weather would also be very useful compared with an open air development.
Visitors would also find it more available than Littledown etc.
