LOCOG’S so called anonymous selection (whatever that might mean) of Olympic Torch Bearers is ridiculous.
I, and I’m sure many others, have no interest whatsoever in watching a Law Enforcement Officer from Bournemouth, nominated strangely by a local councillor, bearing the torch round the streets of Weymouth.
Had it been someone local who, voluntarily and unpaid, had contributed considerably to our local community, or in another instance been a successful sportsman, I would have felt very differently.
No way will it, in LOCOG’S words, “motivate or inspire the watching world”.
