THE Parties are NOT united! How can they be? (‘Parties united on Imax’, Have Your Say, April 7) Cllr John Beesley seems to forget that he has a Tory majority of 46 compared to the opposition of nine councillors so how can this be a cross-party decision as regards the Imax and other future planning proposals. Using the words “overwhelming desire by Bournemouth residents to see the building demolished”is a total exaggeration when only 3,500 supported this.
His attack on Richard Grant from the New Forest is uncalled for and I welcome Mr Grant’s support, as a neighbour, on the future of Bournemouth Town Centre.
There have been hard times before and yet things got done. The demolition of the Winter Gardens was a sad day but the building had come to the end of its useful life. The administration at that time had an excellent plan to develop the site which was thrown out in a fit of pique as soon as the current administration took over. Think about future generations not just the present. Soon, no jobs and no homes for our youngsters in Bournemouth Town Centre.
