EIGHT-and a-half million pounds of council tax payers money has been used to purchase the Imax, plus money to have public consultation, plus money to demolish it – it is in excess of 10 million pounds.
Tobias Ellwood MP engaged pupils at local schools and Avonbourne School with linking the building to Mary Shelley. A cinema showing her works, studios for plays, horror chamber and much more.
Our councillors, have had many ideas; Rod Cooper a Butterfly Farm being one of them. So after spending £10million and many agonising years we have waited with baited breath... demolish the building and create a Public Entertainment Area.
First we have the Square for open entertainments, then we have the re modelled Triangle with open entertainments space – now we have the Imax site.
Have we had an artist’s impression? Have we had a business case study of revenue this space will make? Have we had the evidence that this was the public choice?
I presume as it is on different levels it will be like an amphitheatre – e.g. steps. It will make a great skateboard park when the open space is not in use.
The great illusion is our councillors would have us believe that the BSO is queuing up – can we ask if they have booked any dates in advance?
