IT IS gratifying that Bournemouth council have successfully restored local cliff-top habitats at greatly reduced cost by utilising goats (Daily Echo April 4).
Elsewhere, in the past, this method of management has been met with disastrous results; the omnivorous goats denuding the habitat of both native and alien herbage alike.
It would be interesting to learn of the grazing regime devised to avoid this problem and of the species of indigenous flora and fauna that have been successfully re-established.
