YOUR reader Terry McCormack is absolutely right in his criticism of Bournemouth airport, April 5.
What used to be our friendly local airport has become a very unfriendly place indeed.
Approaching the airport, travellers are confronted with large signs proclaiming “no free drop-off or pick up”, and every motorist is forced to pay £2.50 for simply dropping off friends or relatives, and another £2.50 for picking them up on their return.
Since it takes just a few seconds to exit or enter a car, and no service of any kind is provided, there can be no possible justification for such rapacious charges.
Imagine the reaction if any other business were to introduce such ridiculous charges, £2.50 to enter a Marks & Spencer store perhaps, and another £2.50 to leave?
No doubt Southampton airport, with its much greater choice of domestic and European destinations, will now attract even greater numbers of travellers from Dorset, Exeter and Bristol airports may also benefit.
