I am sure some people will think I should mind my own business, but if I were looking to redesign the centre of Bournemouth I would create a new, purpose-built theatre where the Winter Gardens was, having underground parking and to the sides.
To include additional floors above the main building.
Also incorporating ballrooms and wedding venue facilities.
Then I would demolish the Pavilion Theatre, so that Westover Road immediately opens out onto the Bourne Pleasure Gardens and provide easy access leading to the sea.
I would halt the contract for the (jelly mould) cinema complex next to Bath Road, in the hope that the existing Westover Road buildings could be used better for entertainment and leisure.
As for the former Imax Building, I suggest one problem is that it was back to front.
The main entrances should have faced Bath Road and the car park. With only a secondary exit onto Pier approach and sea front.
If I recall correctly, Imax had no advertisement on the back of the building!
