EVERYONE must surely sympathise with the 92-year-old gentleman’s ordeal, when he was subjected to yobs shooting a hole in his bedroom window, and we must all admire his defiant stand against them.
The article states that this incident brings to a head years of anti-social behaviour in this area.
Followed by the usual and often repeated comments from the police, for example ‘implementing a range of tactics’ ‘local officers working with partner agencies’ ‘public meetings to understand residents’ priorities’ ‘dedicated patrols’ ‘hosting youth activities’ and so on.
Sounds more like a social services priority list, doesn’t it?
Is it not the role of the police to uphold the rule of law and bring to justice those who break it, such as the yobs who terrorise residents like this brave 92-year-old gentleman?
I am sure we all admire the enthusiasm that the police have for the ‘caught no excuse’ campaign for motorists.
It’s just a pity they do not seem to project the same enthusiasm and direct approach against anti-social behaviour.
Perhaps a ‘caught no excuse’ campaign is needed for this. Now there’s an idea.
