CHARLES Cole is requesting information on Moore’s market, which I remember well.
It was situated in Poole High street just below the level crossing on the left.
ln the 50s it was my job to go and fetch half a stone (seven pounds) of spuds twice a week to feed our family of seven and carry them back to our house in Serpentine road in an old green string bag.
In those days no fruit or veg was imported and we looked forward to enjoying a good variety of produce according to season.
My brothers and I were once given an old wooden orange box from there, which we converted into a go cart with the aid of some old pram wheels, a stout plank, a couple of bolts and some rope for steering.
Unfortunately I wrote it off after losing control down Constitution Hill and wrapping it round a gas lamp. Ah! Those were the days!
