AFTER being together for 18 years we finally decided to take the plunge.
Not wanting a big fuss we decided to have a small ceremony with just 30 guests at Poole registry office.
We were so disappointed to find there are only two rooms available for weddings, one is £45 and holds a maximum of ten people, the other holds 120 and has just increased in cost by 25 per cent from £300 to £400.
How can Poole Council justify a 25 per cent increase for the room hire? I am also very surprised that there are two extremes in room sizes. Most registry office weddings should accommodate up to 40/50 without incurring such a huge fee of £400 for the privilege.
It’s no wonder less people are getting married when what used to be a simple ceremony which was affordable has now become a money spinner.
Perhaps we should just stay as we are.
