AS I keep reading the continuous letters about restoring Throop Mill, I think if it was possible it would have been done by now.
I presume the obstacle is what is affecting everything today – funding and cash flow.
From January 1963 I spent many a night burning the midnight oil and a bottle of whiskey with Les Biles, the last miller at Throop (my father-in-law) at his bungalow in Casery Road.
He was quite content to ride his bike to the mill each day and sell animal feed.
He could earn a bob or two so he could enjoy the pleasures of life.
