THERE must be few of us that do not agree with the concept of obtaining energy from sources other than fossil fuels.
Let us not lose sight of the ball by jumping headlong into wind turbines as the alternative way of providing our energy needs.
We owe a big “thank you” to our council for their objection of the test tower.
Remember that this is only a skeleton tower that would start the introduction of solid turbine towers which are not so easily camouflaged as a lattice-worked test tower.
My dislike of wind towers in Poole Bay is based on their eyesore value to our tourist industry as well as their attack on the wild life. I am one of those that puts the safety of our wild birds above the rush to switch on the light in our homes.
I have seen on TV the comparison of these structures with wave energy constructions and heard the remarks about the costs involved.
Was it not stated that it was cheaper to use the wave energy over wind energy?
Please don’t forget that we are blessed here in Poole Bay with double tides compared with the tides elsewhere around the coast so this must count as something when working out the costs of wave energy and the general dislike of the wind turbine eyesores.
