ONE must thank Cllr Brian Clements for bringing these very high publicity costs of £150,000 for the opening ceremonies of the Twin Sails Bridge to the attention of the general public (Echo, May 5).
Why is another £25,000 needed in 2012/13 for publicity?
This should be cut from the budget now. Effort must be going into making sure the project is working satisfactory to relieve the traffic problems in Hamworthy and the old town area as that has not been proven yet.
To spend this amount of money on publicity when there is a desperate need for funding in other essential services is appalling. Many more questions of this nature need to be asked in council to cut back on waste.
