AFTER attending a meeting presented by Eneco I feel we must all stand up and fight against the proposed wind farm in our beautiful bay, before it is too late.
I was quite amazed at the uncertain size and number of turbines proposed.
Eneco have not got a true reading of the number of small craft using this busy area. The Eneco tests only pick up large craft fitted with the commercial electronic equipment.
It is fact that if the wind is too strong the turbines have to be switched off, hence more power stations would be needed.
Research shows that the cement used to hold the turbine in place between the core planted on the sea bed and the turbine has started to crumble on other offshore sites, due to the constant power of the tide and the force of the blades in use.
The extra cost to the consumer is estimated between £20-£50 per household to pay for the wind turbines to be placed at sea.
Research is being carried out for underwater turbines – there must be an alternative solution. It has been proven that wind turbines cause fog – do we want that?
I am local born and bred and I have already fought the battle of the BP oil island monstrosity off Sandbanks.
Eventually, by using the alternative method of extracting oil by parallel drilling, the oil island did not go ahead.
Now let us find another way of getting renewable energy without these ugly whirlybirds on our horizon.
