MARJORIE Titchen (May 11) describes herself as a “revolting pensioner” and complains at her rising gas and electricity bills. She is not alone. All your readers are paying an extra amount on energy bills to pay for useless and ugly windmills and solar panels for those who can afford them.
Household electricity bills are up by 11 per cent because of climate change measures forced on them by governments under “Renewable Obligations”.
Electricity for businesses has risen 18 per cent and is expected to go to 25 per cent by 2025 according to the government.
All your readers should write to Ed Davey, Minister for Energy and Climate Change, asking him how he can go on demanding these extra charges without closing down the whole of UK plc and putting us all on dole? At the same time, he should ask utility companies to publish on their bills to households just how much extra they are collecting for the government in “feed-in tariffs”.
