IT was early last Friday morning when my attention was drawn to a tapping on the kitchen window.
To my amusement, a tiny bird (a sparrow I think) was banging at the window with its beak.
It then flapped its wings to hoist itself some four to six inches up the window, above the frame, whilst its beak continued to tap the window.
The visits last between four and six minutes, and it would fly away into the garden.
I was a little disappointed that I had been unable to obtain a photograph, simply to prove what had actually happened.
Luckily, and more to my amazement, it returned time and time again, for the rest of the day. Furthermore, it returned each day until Tuesday of this week.
Today it has not been seen, but it has left evidence of its presence, with peck marks about 4” high and the whole length of the window, and the lovely red-tile cills which I painted very recently, are now white!
