IT seems transport for Bournemouth Airport is now all about profit and not about customer choice.
The bus service is limited (last one at 6.30pm) and passengers are offered only one taxi service at the rank.
A 10-minute journey of about three miles is almost £17, no discount allowed.
When I tried to walk across to the car park where I saw a cab from my usual company, I was swiftly stopped and prevented from approaching the taxi. I was forcefully told I would have to telephone the company and wait for a cab to arrive.
Here in Britain I was alarmed to be restricted in this way and it seems in line with the equally draconian measures now taken to prevent people dropping off without paying a £2.50 charge, also levied on any taxis other than Compass who dare to enter the airport.
Moreover, it is hardly a good welcome to foreign visitors, least of all, for example, students who are coming here on language courses who would be trapped into spending money they can probably ill afford.
