FOURTEEN years ago we adopted Conner, a Collie Cross. We had been looking for a smaller dog, but I’m sure Conner chose us.
He had been ill-treated and frightened of men in general, also if they had a beard or wore a hat, but Conner took to us and climbed into our car, as if it was a normal occurrence.
Our two sons trained him. David in obedience and Matthew for walkies off his lead. Both loved him.
My husband Roy fed and took him for walks in Wareham Forest. I was Conner’s ‘Mom’ and he was my third son, he came to me for cuddles. Even dogs need love and cuddles.
Sadly he lost the use of his back legs. We used to help him up on his chair, but he was getting worse, so difficult though it was, we asked for the vet to release him from his pain and unhappiness.
Thank you to Rescue Dogs of Shilito Road, Poole, for allowing us to adopt Conner and thank you to Walton Veterinary Practice for their kindness and care for Conner and my family.
We have many happy memories, of a loving, loyal obedient dog.
