A POLICEMAN’S lot is not a happy one.
Last week Home Secretary Theresa May was being heckled and booed at the Police Federation conference in the BIC at a time of cutbacks to the service.
Now, Dorset Police is having to find up to 150 officers on any one shift to make sure everyone is safe and secure during the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events.
It’s not an easy task, especially as the operation – around Weymouth and Portland – lasts for 65 days.
Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Whiting insists the rest of the county won’t suffer as a result and other police forces will help out.
It’s reassuring to know that no matter what problems the Force has to face, especially when resources are stretched, it is doing everything in its power to make sure its regular service is maintained.
