THE subject of renewable energy must surely be on everyone’s mind. Fossil fuels are as “sure as eggs is eggs” running out and someone somewhere has got to do something about it. But who?
People talk of wave power, sounds good but not in this area, the tides are nowhere strong enough.
Yes it looks strong when one stands at the harbour entrance, but it’s been proved that it is not fast enough for long enough, to warrant a worthwhile investment.
Solar power – the only way this can be achieved is that all new buildings built should make provisions for it, or governments subsidise everyone to have it installed. Until then if we want it we will have to pay for it ourselves.
Nuclear power – its clean and very efficient when up and running and is by far the best option.
Yes, I agree that if an accident occurs it becomes a disaster, but still the cheapest and best.
Wind power – this seems to be a way forward, as unsightly as they seem to be, we are not left with many other options.
Some protesters say it will spoil their view, but the view is only the way we see it and not a given right. They also say they are unsightly.
Are they any more unsightly than the cable carrying pylons striding across the countryside that we have to put up with?
I would like the protesters, instead of shouting every project down, to come up with an alternative.
Finally, it was said by a very well known politician “You only pay for the property you own, not the view!”
