HAVING relocated to Bournemouth due to my wife’s employment I have resumed my two-year search for employment.

During this period I decided not to claim Job Seekers Allowance and therefore save the state money. Much to my dismay I find that this now prevents me from making any future claim and furthermore also prevents any personal assistance of any kind from the local Job Centre Plus, not even allowing me a face-to-face interview to offer advice etc.

What fairness is there in this situation? Surely just another example of a worker with over 40 years’ contributions being dumped on the wayside by the state.
