IN response to REDGOLFER00 (What You’re Saying Online, May 30), the National Trust recognises that seaweed on the beach at Studland can be smelly, but also that it is an important wildlife resource.
That’s why we have an agreement with English Nature which allows us to balance the interests of our beach visitors with our responsibility to manage what is a national nature reserve.
We do clear seaweed from key spots during the summer, but in any case the areas affected are small, and with four miles of beach at Studland there is always plenty of clean golden sand to enjoy.
