DR Martin Rodger (Echo May 28) states that Jane Wills (Echo May 22) is wrong to assert that tidal power could enable this country to become self-sufficient in energy.
Dr Rodger refers to an impressive range of officially derived statistics to give credence to his argument, but I would like to point out to him that, both experimentally and in practice, it has been shown that energy contained naturally within tidal flow can be substantially enhanced using simple and economically viable technology.
I’m with Jane Wills and can see a day when tidal power provides the best answer to our energy needs.
