I WRITE further to Harriet Marsh’s very good piece (Daily Echo, May 28), regarding Dorset County Council’s support of Hampshire’s plans for a quarry and dump in Moors Valley Country Park.
A number of us have been trying to find out from TG Badley, the principal planning officer for Dorset, and our county councillors by whom and why this decision was made.
Of some 40 plus councillors, only a handful have even acknowledged our concerns or responded.
Their response? They either don’t know what we are talking about or, more interestingly “cannot comment as it is a (Dorset) planning issue and to speak out would bar them from the debate”.
What debate, what planning issue? Are Dorset County Council, despite all the assertions to the contrary, planning to quarry minerals in their part of Moors Valley Country Park (known as Bakers Hanging) and turn the already dangerous B3081 into a Quarry access route?
Come clean Dorset, tell us what is this ‘planning issue’ prohibiting councillors to tell their constituents what is going on.
Perhaps even sign the petition at no2purplehaze.co.uk. If further destruction of Moors Valley Country Park and a wonderful open space is even under consideration we have a right to know.
NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED, Verwood
